Namibian Beer Bread

Beer Bread

Ingredients Serves 4 to 8

500g self-raising flour

5ml salt

5ml mixed herbs

125g sugar

340ml any beer @room temperature (This will give the bread its characteristic flavour)

Preparation

Place all the ingredients in a deep bowl and mix in well, cover and leave to stand while you

Grease and line a loaf or other bread pan

Turn the dough into the the greased bread pan

Bake in a pre-heated oven 180oC for 45 minutes

Remove from the oven and test with a skewer that its fully cooked

Allow the bread to stand in the pan for 10minutes before turning out and serving with a curry or South African Bobotie
